Matt Jackson's 55 (33)
Matt had his truck done for high school more than 10 years ago. It was bagged, painted and was a pretty cool truck. The only problem was that it was unreliable. The truck used to belong to Matt's mom and the plan for the truck is to make it more stock looking with a modern twist. An Art Morrison frame will be used and an LS3 with a 6L80E. The exterior will be the original steel blue that his mom had. Big brakes will be used and some 18 in smooties for a classic look. The interior will have bucket seats and an integrated center console. The car will debut at the GNRS 2016. Stay tuned -
1950 Chevy Truck (27)

Greg's 1931 Model A Coupe (12)
The owner of Double Z Hot Rods is also the owner of this unreal 31 Coupe. Greg has owned this car since he was fourteen, it has been a labor of love since then. He chopped the top and leaned back the a pillars and leaned forward the back of the cab, the objective was to get the look of a deuce. There are over a hundred other body mods done to the coupe. The amount of work put into this car is almost unbelievable. While changing most bodylines, he kept the car looking surprisingly untouched which is a hugh testament to his skill as a builder. Everything was done by him. He did all the body work, paint, engine work, made the headers, exhaust, body mods, and so on. Under the hood lies a blown Buick Nailhead! -
Richard Sawatzky's 1929 Model A (52)
Richard has always dreamed about owning a Model A. The car that Richard eventually bought was previously owned by a couple of Valley hot rodders. The late Mark Olson originally owned the 29 tudor. Mark was a wonderful fabricator and had plans for the car before he passed away. Rod Harms from "Rod's Body and Paint" purchased the 29 from Mark's wife Patti. This is where Richard came in, Richard and Rod are part of the Reedley Nomads and the car was purchased from Rod and the project began. The frame was built inside the Nomads' clubhouse with the help of Adron Scroggins. Once the frame was finished Richard brought the car to Double Z to finish the hot rod. The body was in poor shape and in need of a lot of metal work. A Deuce tank was seamlessly installed and it was decided to chop the tudor. The chop had to be different and Greg Zulim and Richard can up with the plan to chop it in an unconventional way. The A pillar was leaned backward to achieve a different look. The visor was trimmed and the cowl was welding up. Kellen Isaac, who works alongside Double Z on many projects, started up on the build from there. He made countless one off parts and did most of the finish work. The belly pans, floor boards, frame details, body work, and assembly were done by Kellen. Russell Zulim and Jimmy T handled the spraying of the color and the color sand and buff. The car was painted a deep black by Jimmy. Ron Mangus handled the interior. It has been to the GNRS 3 times, Goodguys shows in California and many local shows. Check out the pictures -
David Brown's 1935 Ford Pickup (41)

Custom touches include a rear role pan, custom interior, wood grain dash, polished stainless exhaust. The green paint was chosen to match as closely as possible to the High School color of David's truck. The truck debuted at the Grand National Roadster Show. Take a look at the pictures. -
Phil and Jill Swain's 36 Pontiac (116)

We put a Mustang II clip with coilovers and a 9 inch in the rear. Rich Guasco located a LT1 for us and a tranny. We replaced all the wood structure with metal and all the floors. The motor is a King Street 455 Pontiac built by Rock & Roll Engineering. The pontiac power plant now boasts 550 hp and 600 ft pounds of torque and is a beautiful motor. The suspension is a computer controlled air ride unit that deflates and inflates on its own according to how fast he takes corners. The paint was chosen by Jim and painted by Greg Zulim and Jimmy Teague. Russell Zulim did most of the body work and made sure that every panel was as straight as an arrow. We repainted much of the truck and redid the bedwood. It also got a fresh leather interior. After that some new wheels and tires got it back on the road. -
1969 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air (40)
This Trans Am was brought to us by RM Negotiated for their customer from overseas. The Pontiac was previously restored but had significant problems with gaps, quarter panels, and paint issues. We stripped all of the paint off the car, and found that we needed to replace one of the quarter panels, and the other needed some tweaking. The body was not very straight, so we did a lot of metal finishing and subsequent body work on the whole car. After many applications of primer and blocking of the car, it was ready for paint. Original color and stripes were applied and the car looked great again. The motor needed paint as well as the entire engine compartment. Chrome was redone and trim was renewed. Ray Goertzen's 1938 Ford Tudor (79)
Ray started his project in 1997 when he acquired his father-in-law's 38 Ford 4-door and intended to restore it. This changed when he found a 38 tudor online in Iowa. Ray had the car shipped to Durango Colorado where he picked it up himself with a trailer. The car was in rough shape and needed repair and restoration everywhere one looked. The rust repair was done by Jesus Herrara as was initial body work. The frame was boxed up front for a Mustang II and Small Block motor mounts by Steve Esau in Kingsburg CA. The Ford 8 inch was also installed by Esau. The car then sat for a while before Ray came to Double Z Hot Rods to finish it. Ray came to us with a hot rod that he had spent many hours planning, ordering, and buying parts for. Ray has done a great job planning his hot rod and envisioning a great looking car. He made sure all the amenities of a new car where included in his hot rod. "Power everything" was the theme for this car. Double Z stepped in and finished all body work, fabrication, and finish work that was needed before paint. We painted the car and began the final assembly. Detail was a priority with such a high quality build and can be seen from the near finished product. The car is set to premier in Pismo in 2013. Ray plans on having a blast driving his car once it is done. -

This Buick was basically done when we got it. It had some wonderful work by other shops. The paint was the only thing that needed some improvement. We chopped the top 3 inches and added a new frame from Fat Man Fabrications. The small block Ford was built by Smith Auto in Dinuba CA and has plenty of power for this small car. The paint is a light green and the body was completely restructured. The fenders were strengthened as were the doors and hood. A new floor and tubs were added to accommodate the new frame.
